A love letter to Bonanza: Kendall's story

As I reflect on my experience at Bonanza’s 12th Edition in Biarritz, two things stand out most: the community and the romanticization of everyday moments. Together, they’re the magic that makes this experience so unforgettable.
The Community
Most of the women on our retreat came alone, stepping into the unknown with excitement and nerves. Flying across the world can be intimidating, no matter how much you’re looking forward to the destination—but the moment you arrive at Bonanza, connections begin to form.
Everyone was so inviting, open, and ready to dive in. It felt like one big sleepover: warm coffee on quiet mornings as the sun rose, followed by cold surf sessions, laughing in the waves with new friends, and slow afternoons exploring the charming towns of Biarritz and Guéthary.
What makes these connections so special is that they’re rooted in doing. Swimming, surfing, hiking, cooking, exploring—shared experiences that naturally build trust and joy. We were constantly learning, whether it was a new skill or a glimpse into another culture. The open-mindedness of everyone there was so refreshing, and it felt like such a safe space to express yourself. Amanda and Elin set that tone beautifully, and it’s contagious.

The Romanticization of Moments
Every second at Bonanza feels like a movie scene—from the way meals are plated to the colorful wetsuits drying on the line. It’s a reminder that the best things in life are often the simplest.
Walk down a steep hill with new friends as the ocean wind tries to carry you away. A slow, peaceful yin yoga class. Holding space for meaningful conversations. Matching robes at sunset. A bubbly Aperol spritz in the sunshine.
In the rush of everyday life, it’s easy to forget the power of romanticizing a moment, but it’s one of the biggest lessons Bonanza taught me. It’s not about crafting a picture-perfect scene—it’s about being intentional, honoring the fleeting beauty of now.
I swear my memories from Bonanza are as vivid as the photographs I took, because every moment was worth remembering. It all felt so bright, full, and alive.

Carrying Bonanza On
Bonanza isn’t just a trip—it’s a way of life, and I carry it with me every day. I even found myself channeling the experience while planning my recent bachelorette, wondering, “How can I bring the spirit of Bonanza to my friends?” and “What made me feel so special on that trip that I can do for them?”
Our Bonanza group still stays in touch—mostly through social media, but every now and then we cross paths while visiting each other’s cities. The bonds are real.
I truly can’t recommend this experience enough. It’s everything you hope it will be… and more!!
