Travelling solo as a woman: Embracing independence, connection & reinvention

Alone but never lonely: Why a retreat can be the perfect introduction to solo trips <3
Some girls come to our retreats with a friend or sister, but most ladies tend to travel solo. Maybe it's cause no one could get the time off work, maybe it's about finding likeminded people, or maybe you just simply want to challenge yourself and try something new.
Alone on the road, you don’t just move through places—you move within yourself. It’s a chance to become the person you’ve always wanted to be—in every new experience, familiar feeling or unexpected conversation. Here's a few aspects we've fallen in love with over the years as solo travellers.

Defining your journey and growing through resilience
Wake up on your own terms. Choose your route, companions, pace. Let curiosity and intuition be your guides.
Solo journeys call for adaptability—navigating cities and airports alone, facing cultural differences, handling surprises. Each decision you make builds confidence and resourcefulness (and good stories) that will stay with you long after the trip ends.
Embracing your true self and connection on the road
Arriving in a new place, no one knows who you are. That blank slate invites you to show up exactly as who you want to be—free by history or judgment.
Alone doesn’t necessarily mean lonely. Being on your own often makes you more approachable, forcing you to be open minded, more open hearted. Meaningful interactions with locals or fellow travellers blossom naturally—and can evolve into lasting connections.

Why a retreat can be a supportive beginning
If solo travel feels like a leap, a surf, yoga or pilates retreat can be the ideal stepping‑stone—offering freedom wrapped in support and community:
- Freedom with gentle structure: Daily surf, yoga, or pilates sessions establish a comforting rhythm, while still giving you space to explore or rest on your own terms
- Community without obligation: Retreats attract like‑minded women—many arrive solo and leave feeling part of a supportive group. Many guests we have continue travelling together after the retreat, even though they didn't know each other before
- Reflection in natural settings: Held in serene, nature‑immersed locations, retreats offer the perfect environment to tune into your inner voice before branching into fully independent travel
Solo travel is far more than a getaway—it’s an invitation to trust yourself, challenge old definitions, and grow through your choices. Even when you begin alone, connection finds you. A surf, yoga and pilates retreat can be a gentle, meaningful way to start—offering both refuge and autonomy on your journey toward becoming exactly who you want to be.
